Strings for Healing is a nonprofit organization founded by Francesca and Antonia Gambino, two sisters who are passionate about making a difference in people's lives. When their grandmother had a stroke, her occupational therapist explained to them that music - especially classical music- helped tremendously with stroke patients by stimulating the brain. Upon finding this out, the sisters began playing the violin every time they visited until her last breath. They saw that the music made a tremendous difference in their grandmother's day to day life and her surroundings. They wanted to continue spreading their musical influence to others. Since 2011, Antonia and Francesca have been playing the violin in hospitals, fundraisers, group homes, and nursing homes throughout their local neighborhoods. They are grateful to feel empowered by helping others feel happy. They love seeing patients smile and want to continue spreading the joy to more hospitals & facilities.
